Corfu (Kerkyra) Island has some of the finest beaches in the Ionian Sea. It possesses both sandy and pebbly beaches and crystal clear waters. Most Corfu beaches provide long chairs, umbrellas and water sports facilities
Glyfada beach
Located on the west coast of Corfu island, 25km from Corfu town. An array of water sports is available at Glyfada, one of the most popular beaches on the island. The beach is wide and sandy and the water is relative shallow. You will find holiday rentals, tavernas and restaurants, bars just in front of the beach
Barbati beach
Quite beautiful sandy beach in the settlement of the same name, near Nissaki, 21 km north of the island's capital. You will find plenty of sun beds and umbrellas for hire.
Being a blue flag beach is kept clean and the water is very clear
Messonghi beach
Located on the south-east coast in a mainly flat area with olive-clad hills inland. This ex-fishing village is now a busy resort spread over a large area between the original village and the main road. The Messonghi river flows from the surrounding gentle hills. The beach is narrow and made up of coarse sand, some shingle and small pebbles. There are water sports and pedaloes and some shallows suitable for children. Messonghi beach runs in a long sweep to a headland to the south. A few fishing caiques lie at anchor offshore. There is a choice of self-catering, small hotels or a vast hotel complex as well as a cosmopolitan selection of restaurants and tavernas
Maltas beach
The beach is a boundless sandy coast and the sea is one of the clearest in this island. It's an all green place, a beautiful hill of trees wich ends to the south-west beach of the island. Not far away from the houses, there are restaurant-bars, taverns, greek dancing, mini markets and telephone boxes
Paramonas beach
Another of the quiet variety beaches on the island with small taverns and rooms to let opposite the beach. It is located on the middle-west of Corfu island
Agios Gordis beach
Located on the west cost of Corfu island 35 minutes from Corfu Town. An extensive sandy beach, its main feature is Ortholithi, a rock which soars from the sea at the southern corner of the Bay. The natural beauty of the locality attracts many visitors and it boasts lorge hotels and smaller complexes, constructed in harmony with the surroundings, as well as numerous restaurants and bars. A frequent bus service links the beach with Corfu City, allowing easy access
Gialiskari beach
Located on the west coast of Corfu island , surrounded by tropical nature. Here you will find more peace and quiet than other Corfu beaches, however with all the comforts of the other beaches as there are bungalows facilities for snacks and meals available
Kavos beach
Beautiful long sandy beach in the Kavos famous resort, 47 km south of Corfu Town. Lots of watersport facilities are available also.
Mytriotisa beach
Nudist beach, one of the most popular nude beaches in Europe. Small picturesque bay surrounded by cliffs with the beautiful beach where according to tradition Ulysses met Nausika. To get there, follow the road that leads from Pelekas to Glyfada till you find a sign pointing to “Myrtiotissa beach”. You will find a very steep track that leads you down to the beach.
Paleokastritsa beach
Located on the north-west coast the resort is hilly and nestles beneath the folds of steep verdant slopes of olive groves and citrus orchards. Paleokastritsa enjoys a spectacular setting on five small, enclosed bays. In the harbour, yachts from all parts of the Mediterranean are berthed. At the northernmost promontory is a 12th-century monastery.
Magnificent views are obtained from both the monastery and the hills above, particularly from the village of Lakones. The main beach is of shingle. The crystal clear blue-green water is usually icy-cold due to underground freshwater streams. It is deep and unsuitable for young children. There are many other small, shingly coves, some reached only by boat. Accommodation consists of high-quality hotels and private villas.
Sidari beach
At the western end of the long north coast Sidari lies on a gently curving bay of the same name, in a flat area with green hills rising inland. The unusual cliffs of soft sandstone have eroded to create numerous inlets and sandy coves. The farther ones are less frequented and often used for gaining all-over tans. One of the larger eroded channels is known as the Canal d'Amour. There are long, narrow stretches of compact sand and shingle as well as small shingle coves between the low eroded cliffs to the west. The sea is very shallow and warm. Various water sports include pedaloes and canoes. Over 40 tavernas offer varied menus.
